Autumn Eddy has a knack for being around the ball.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s on the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

“She probably our leading rebounder, our leading steal person,” said coach Jeff Andrews. “She’s one of our top scorers. She can do just about anything for us and she’s played a big role once again tonight.”

Eddy was just two steals short of a triple-double, as the Falkville Lady Blue Devils cruised to a 69-37 win over Brilliant in the a Class 1A Northwest Sub-Regional game Friday.

Falkville will face No. 8 Tharptown in the Class 1A Northwest Regional at Wallace State Community College Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Eddy helped spark a 15-0 run in the first quarter and another 10-0 run in the second quarter to give Falkville a 39-15 advantage at halftime. She had 10 points in the first half and finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and eight steals. She also added three assists and a blocked shot.

Andrews said he went to his bench a little early after his players played such a fast few minutes.

“We were a little uptight at the beginning of the game,” Andrews said. “We expended so much energy in that first few minutes that we were a little winded and that allowed them to get back in the game. With being out of school so much, we haven’t really had much of a chance to practice this week.

“But we kept the pressure up and that’s was the key to the game.”

Emily Mickelson came on strong in the second half to lead all scorers with 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Bailey Anders and Patricia Kilgore also hit double figures with 10 points each. Kilgore also had eight assists, four rebounds and four steals while Anders had five rebounds of her own.

Makenzie Smith added eight points, five steals, three assists and three rebounds followed by McKenzie Newman with six points and five rebounds and Ashley Hampton and Carley Barfield with two each.
