Yard sale fundraiser planned for wreck victim

A yard sale fundraiser for Kayla Brown Mears will be Fri., Feb. 28, and Sat., March 1, beginning at 7 a.m. both days at Jubilee Family Worship Center, located behind the Pig Stand Barbecue in Hartselle.

Kayla was seriously injured in a car wreck, sustaining head, arm and other injuries. Proceeds from the yard sale will go toward helping Kayla with her medical expenses. Donations of yard sale items or cash can be dropped off at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Please call the church before you come at 256-773-5648. All help and support for Kayla will be greatly appreciated.

Lewie and Peggy Rogers of Johnson’s Chapel community are spending several weeks with their daughter, Pam Chaffin, her husband Doug and daughter Evie in Spanish Fort. While there, they celebrated Lewie’s 90th birthday Feb. 22. Special belated birthday and good wishes go out to Lewie.

Danville High School’s Lady Hawks lost to Good Hope 34-25 in the Class 3A, Area 13 championship game Sat., Feb. 8. Paul Wilson is their head coach. Those scoring during the game were Gracie George, Charlee Anderson, Tara Tuck, Syndi Shelton, Morgan Weatherwax, Shelia Cordova and McKayla Stover.

Melee Laney and Jeannie Alexander of the Massey community, Tammy Vest of Brooksville, Linda Huskey, Kathy Summerford and April Jones of Hartselle enjoyed a Gulf and Caribbean Cruise out of New Orleans, La., earlier this month.

Robert and Rebekah Mobley hosted a birthday lunch Sat., Feb. 15, at their home in Huntsville. This event was for their 8-year-old daughter, Carolyn, and the first birthday party of their son, Daniel. Those attending were Carolyn Besnyl of Massey community and Jerry and Terry Boyd, Matthew Roper and DeWayne and Mandy Roper, all of Decatur. Also attending were the Mobley family, Robert’s mother and his aunt Sylvia and his uncle, all of Huntsville.

Get well wishes go out to Joyce O’Neal and Doris Herring of Massey community this week.

Essie Holladay of the Friendship community has been in Summerford Nursing Home and was admitted to Decatur-Morgan Hospital Sat., Feb. 15, with respiratory problems. Essie was 100 years old last fall. Our thoughts and prayers go out this week for Essie.

Belated happy birthday wishes go out this week to Blondie Morris, Charlice LaFavor, William Logan, Cheyanne Terrell, all on Feb. 25.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Carson Roland and Chris Roland, both on Feb. 26, and Travis Turrentine on Feb. 27.

I wish my good friend, Junior Taylor, a happy Feb. 29 birthday. Remember Junior you’re not getting older, just better, my friend.

McKendree United Methodist youth and adult volunteers had a workday at the Youth Center Sat., Feb. 15. The porch was completed and the ramp had been built earlier. The Bridge Ministries tutoring program began at the Center after school Tues., Feb. 18.

Johnson’s Chapel United Methodist women’s group will be taking desserts and helping serve meals at the Committee on Church Cooperation building in Decatur in March. This is a quarterly project of the United Methodist Women at Johnson’s Chapel. The CCC helps families and individuals in need.
