Billy ‘Sundance’ Cassidy

February 23, 2014

Funeral for Billy “Sundance” Cassidy, 57, will be Thur., Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Jones officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Cassidy died Sun., Feb. 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born Oct. 30, 1956, in Bedford County to Oscar Floyd Cassidy and Rachel Rickman Wilson. He was a hardworking, dedicated employee of BE &K/KBR for 35 years. A man who led by shining example often making the statement, “Work smarter, not harder.” He loved his family and friends and was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast, who, more often than not, led the pack. He loved his home and gardening, even succeeding in transforming his yard into a beautiful tropical paradise. He was a strong man, even during his sickness. He continued to fight, refusing to quit. He was a loving husband, father and “Pop” to his grandbabies. The family would like to thank Dr. John Irle and Hospice of North Alabama for their care and support during this difficult time. He cared deeply for his friends that joined him over the years in so many motorcycle events and would often say,”Saddle up, Let’s Ride!”

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Cassidy of Decatur; a son, Eric Cassidy of Florida; two daughters, Victoria Cassidy of Madison and Sydney Cassidy of Decatur; a stepson: Cain Bryant (Charity) of Falkville; a stepdaughter, Sarah Bryant of Falkville; a brother, Paul Cassidy of Florida; two sisters, Dianne Thompson of Missouri and Regina Hufford of California; and six grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Morris, Bruce Wagnon, Jim Surber, Carey Pharr, Vondell White, Jeremy Holmes, Jeff Hicks and Randy Crouch.
