Funeral for Ernest Ray Doss, 81, of Falkville will be Sat., March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doyle Creel officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery. Visitation will be Fri., Feb. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Doss died Thur., Feb. 27, 2014, at his residence. He was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Morgan County to Ernest McMillan Doss and Willie Alverson Doss. He was retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the U.S. Army after 20 years of service Mr. Doss was a recipient of a Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict and a Bronze Star in Vietnam. After his service in the Army, he worked 18 years for and retired from, the Morgan County School System, where he was a foreman for the Bus Barn.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Doss of Falkville; a son, Earnie Doss (Bonnie) of Decatur; two daughters, Theresa Buckelew (Carl) of Eva, and Sherrie Champion (Mark) of Decatur; a step-son, Nick Stover (Tammy) of Hartselle; a sister, Myra McPherson; seven grandchildren, Jason Buckelew (Stacy), Kayla Hanvey (Jessie), Tawny Williams (A.J.), Zachary Champion (Erin), Sarah Champion, Dillon Childers and McKayla Stover; two great-grandchildren, Kendall Hanvey and Coston Hanvey.
Pallbearers will be Jason Buckelew, Jessie Hanvey, A.J. Williams, Dillon Childers, Marty McCaghren and Ted McCaghren.
