JV BASEBALL: Hartselle 7, Thompson 2

The Tigers scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Thompson’s JV baseball team.

Austin Parker walked with the bases loaded to break the 2-2 tie and he would later score on a Lane Anders sacrifice fly. Jaxon Peebles added two more runs with a double and then capped the rally by scoring on a wild pitch.

Hartselle took a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning thanks to Caleb Myers’ sacrifice fly and Parker’s RBI double.

Thompson answered in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game on a two-run double.

Jake Chaney added a double while Collin Blackwood and Brady Netherton had singles.

Netherton pitched the final three innings to earn the win. He had seven strikeouts while allowing two unearned runs on three hits.

Prattville 2, Hartselle 1

Parker had a double and a single, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers to overcome two first-inning Prattville runs.

Matt James drove in Will Foote on a sacrifice in the top of the fifth inning.

Scout Alexander took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits. Trent Sivley had two strikeouts in a perfect inning of relief. Austin Teague also had a strikeout.
