7k benefit race set for March 15 at PES

The inaugural Miss Albany’s Piggy Tail Princess 7K will be March 15 at 8 a.m. at Priceville Elementary School.

The event was named in honor of 2-year-old Miss Albany, who was born three months early.

Albany is considered a triplegic, as three of her limbs were affected by cerebral palsy.

The race is to promote awareness of cerebral palsy and other exceptionalities such as developmental delay, premature birth, physical handicaps and many other medical conditions.

The 7k race will be 4.35 miles and the length of the race comes from her birthday, Nov. 7. The cost of the race is $30. Registration fees may be made at http://www.missalbany7k.com/ or in person before 7:30 a.m. on race day.

A Red Carpet Awareness Event follows the race at 10:30 a.m. and costs $10. People will have the opportunity to “cross the finish line” red carpet style. The best dressed will receive a prize.
