DHS prom planned March 21
Danville High School baseball and softball teams sponsored a pancake breakfast in the high school cafeteria on Sat., Feb. 22, from 7 to 11 a.m.
Coaches, players and parents extend thanks to everyone who came out and supported their fundraiser. The Hawks baseball coach is Brian Ellis and Savannah Shaw is the softball coach.
The Danville High School Junior and Senior Prom will be Fri., March 21, in the high school gymnasium, beginning at 8 p.m. The time for the lead-outs will be announced.
Spring Break for Danville and other Morgan County schools will be March 24-28.
Forrest Chapel, Oak Ridge, Neel, Johnson’s Chapel and Danville Methodist Women enjoyed attending a luncheon at Lillie’s Restaurant in El Marie’s Art and Antiques Mall in Hartselle, the former Stewart Brothers Chevrolet building in Hartselle Sat., Feb. 22.
Linda Dunlap and Barney May opened their sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts business the same day. Early patrons gave them a “two thumbs up” and will be returning.
Lillie’s is part of Lillie’s Hospitality Group Company and is named for Barney’s grandmother.
Barney made buttermilk pie for the opening along with donuts, huge and delicious cinnamon rolls and sugar cookies. They are serving weekdays until 2 p.m. and Saturdays until 3 p.m.

Members of Shady Grove Baptist Church remember in loving memory this week the following: Addie Mae “Ruby” Hill, Feb. 15, 1920, to Sept. 1, 1992; and Mary Sue Thompson, Feb. 19, 1907, to Oct. 3, 2003. Family night was held at Round Top Community Church Wed., Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone enjoyed the potluck meal and fellowship in the family life center.
Pastor Pearl Jenkins conducted the devotional, the prayer requests and blessed the food. The next family night will be March 26.
Bridge Ministries peer tutoring began Tuesday afternoon at McKendree United Methodist Church Youth Center on New Cut Road in Massey. Eight children came for help with their studies.
Sessions will continue at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays. All youth who need tutoring are welcome from third grade to senior level.
Kevin Crawley, Tammy Vest and other adults will be at the center.
Ferrell and Pauline Anders of Fairhope visited his mother, Doris Herring of Massey on Feb. 21-23. On Sat., Feb. 22, Doris hosted Ferrell’s 65th birthday dinner at 5
p.m. Those attending were Theron and B.B. Anders of Huntsville, Larry and Nancy Anders, Jennifer Anders of Sheffield and Kay Farrer of Hartselle.
Get well wishes go out this week to Hattie Mae Hardin at Summerford Nursing Home and also to Shirley Blevins Pope of Corinth who had knee surgery at UAB Hospital Wed., Feb. 26.
