FHS girls team impacts FES

The youth of Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church held a Valentine’s party in the fellowship hall of the church. The party room was decorated with red and white hearts. Thirty-five attended this event.

The Falkville Public Library held a board meeting Feb. 18. Rhona Summerford called the meeting to order. The library is making plans to hold a book sale with the date to be announced later. An open house will be held at the library April 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. Board members attending the meeting were Jane Hill, Tina Rogers, Pamela McDonald and Kay Farrer. Also attending was librarian, Jenny Asherbranner.

Ralph and Mary Alice Nelson extend birthday wishes to their granddaughter, Scarlett Graham and grandson, Caleb Fields. Scarlett’s special day is March 4 and Caleb’s is March 7.

Belated birthday wishes are sent to Harold Gandy and Dewayne Bennich, both on Feb. 28.

Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church members extend get-well wishes to Buddy Dunlap and Don Turney.

Members of the Class of 1952 of Falkville High School met at Libby’s Restaurant in Priceville recently for breakfast. Among those attending were Ray and Betty Sanders, Howard and Helen Gibson, Scotty and Betty Parker, Kenneth and Betty Harpe, Jack and Ina Hucks, Bob and Charlotte Wise, Sarah Gaines, Bill Coard and Franklin and Sue Harrison.

Diane Bryan celebrated her birthday with a dinner at Logan’s Restaurant in Decatur Feb. 19. Helping her celebrate her special day were her parents, Ray and Betty Sanders and her brothers and sisters.

Falkville High School’s girls basketball players and student leaders make a positive impact on Falkville Elementary Park and Recreation Fowler 9/10 Lady Devils.

In the fall of 2013, coach Jeff Andrews along with the FHS Lady Blue Devils hosted a girls basketball camp at FES. Fowler 9/10 Lady Devils went on to win their division and won second place in the Morgan County Park and Recreation Championships.

Recently, these young girls supported the FHS Lady Blue Devils as they won the Clas 1A Northwest Regional Tournament at Wallace State and went to the Final 48 as a Final Four team.

Winners for the Falkville Elementary School Science Fair were announced at the monthly PTO meeting on Feb. 25.

First, second, and third place posters will be entered in the Morgan County Science Fair. The county winners will be announced on March 18.

Kindergarten winners are: first place, Taylor Smith, second place, Lily Cocke; third place, Adily Alberti; fourth place, Owen Weaver; and honorable mention, Eric Keenum.

First grade winners are: first place, Lilah Steele; second place, Emma Kyker and Ella Kyker; third place, Hunter Light and Braydon Harris; fourth place, Denver Comstock and Keiana Holmes, honorable mention, Jacob Jackson and Hope McClanahan.

Second grade winners are: first place, Cedric Beavers and Ellie Cate Hill; second place, Kylee Wyatt; third place, Jackson Edmondson and Damon Stewart; fourth place, Jasmine Sellers and Mary Maddox; and honorable mention, Lynsley Hayes.

Third grade winners are: first place, Liza Wallace and Bowden Williams; second place, Caden Burnett; third place, Ella Wallace and Austin Melson; honorable mention, Jake Wilhite and Shayley Vogelaar.

Fourth grade winners are: first place, Brea Bryan, Bryce Bryan, Audrey Easter and Adam Miller; second place, Morgan Brown and Dillan Luker; third place, Drew Wilson; and fourth place, Ashley Toller.

Fifth grade winners are: first place, Laney Hulsey; second place, Brantleigh Williams; third place, Wyatt Tomlin, Julie Beavers, Mersadies Harris, Zach Miller and Emily Wilhite; fourth place, Katie Green; honorable mention, Haley Owens.
