Hartselle man charged with stabbing
A Hartselle man has been charged with stabbing a family member in the back during a dispute at the relative’s home in Decatur early Tuesday morning.
Ernesto Salazar, 22, of 1104 Elm St. NW in Hartselle was charged with assault second degree, a Class C Felony. He was transferred from Decatur City Jail to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 1801 Cumberland Ave. SW to the call March 11 at 3:33 a.m.
The 23-year-old victim, Pablo Ayala, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back.
According to a Decatur Police Department press release, the suspect allegedly started a physical altercation during a family visit at Ayala’s residence. Police believe that Salazar armed himself with a knife and stabbed Ayala in the back multiple times.
