Danville defeats DHCS in tourney

Danville capitalized on its scoring opportunities to pull out a 5-0 win over Decatur Heritage at the Hartselle Varsity Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Decatur Heritage had five hits compared with Danville’s three, but Decatur Heritage stranded six runners on base.

Callie Ryan racked up two RBIs on one hit for Danville. She doubled in the fourth inning.

Danville went up for good in the fourth, scoring three runs on a two-run double by Ryan and an RBI single by Sloan Lindsey.

Danville built upon its lead with two runs in the sixth. An error scored Kellee Stiles for the inning’s first run.

Westminster 4, DHS 1

Danville’s Lady Hawks managed only three hits in a 4-1 losing cause to

Westminster in pool play of the Hartselle Varsity Tournament on Friday night.

Callie Ryan had two doubles and scored Danville’s only run. Lara Fagan also had a double.

Savannah Bolton was the losing pitcher, She allowed four runs on six hits while striking out seven batters and walking three.

Danville 4, Ardmore 1

The Lady Hawks defeated Ardmore, 4-1, in the opening round of the Hartselle Varsity Tournament on Saturday.

Morgan Weatherwax sparked the win with two singles, an RBIU and scored a run. Hannah Grace Sherrill had a single and scored twice and Regan Burcham singles and scored a run.

Bolton was the winning pitcher. She allowed one run on two hits while striking out two batters.

Danville 9, Priceville 1

Danville Lady Hawks defeated Hanceville’s Lady Bulldogs

9-1 in a home game on March 10.

Hannah Grace Sherrill had a double, single and scored a run to lead Danville at the plate. Chelsea Hill had a pair of pair of singles and scored a run, Callie Ryan doubled and knocked in two runs, Regan Burcham doubled and scored a run and Savannah Bolton singled.

Morgan Weatherwax was the winning pitcher. She allowed one run on one hit while striking out seven batters and walking one.

West Morgan 3, DHS 2

The Lady Hawks lost a squeaker, 3-2, to West Morgan on the road on March 3.

Keilee Stiles carried the load for Danville at the plate. She had a home run and single. Morgan Weatherwax doubled and scored a run and Savannah Bolton had a single.

Bolton was the winning pitcher. She allowed three runs on two hits while striking out five and walking two.

DHS 13, Hanceville 0

The Lady Hawks defeated Hanceville 3-0- in a home game on March 6.

Eight Danville players had hits. Ryan had a double and single with three RBIs and scored two runs. To lead the team. Stiles had a double and single with two RBIs and two runs scored, Burcham had two hits and scored two runs, Weatherwax triple and singles and knocked in a run and scored two, Sloan Lindsey had a triple, two RBIs and scored a run, Sherrill had an RBI double and scored a run, Bolton doubled and scored a run and Lara Fagan had an RBI single and scored a run.

Oneonta 2, DHS 1

Bolton hurled a no-hitter to get the win. She struck out eight batters.

Danville lost to Oneonta 2-1 in the opening round of the Wallace State Invitational Tournament in Cullman on March 7.

Stiles and Weatherwax each had a pair of singles while. Ryan, Bolton and Lindsey each singled.

Oneonta had four hits.

Dora 2, Danville 1

Dora edged Danville 2-1 in the second round of the Wallace State Tournament on March 7.

Stiles had a double and Fagan, Sherrill, Bolton and Weatherwax each singled.

Bolton allowed two runs on one hit while striking one batter in the first inning.
