New recreation facilities open in Bankhead forest
Recreation sites in the Bankhead National Forest are now open for the spring season.
Two facilities in the Clear Creek and Corinth Recreation Areas are now managed by private concessionaires. American Land and Leisure, the concessionaire, charges for services and maintains a different fee structure from other sites.
In addition, America the Beautiful Passes for day use will not apply at these two sites. Some campsites will require reservations.
The “America the Beautiful Pass” Program is a suite of annual and lifetime passes that provide U.S. citizens and visitors an affordable and convenient way to access Federal recreation lands.
The five passes – annual, military, senior access and volunteer – provide a discount to card holders at sites except for Clear Creek and Corinth Recreation Areas. The passports can also be used at other federal recreation sites.

The U.S. Forest Service begins the new season with site enhancements designed to make outdoor recreation better for all visitors.
“The Forest Service has been busy preparing for another spectacular recreation season,” said Steve Lohr, forest supervisor for the National Forests in Alabama. “Our team of recreation specialists and trained volunteers are ready to ensure that visitors will be able to enjoy many activities on our national forests,” Lohr added.
