Falkville sweeps Danville

Falkville’s fifth-ranked Blue Devils swept a doubleheader from Danville’s Hawks 15-4 and 8-6 at home on Thursday.

The Blue Devils pounded out 13 hits over four innings in the first game.

Ryan Bradford led the way for Falkville both at bat and on the mound. He had a double and three singles in four bat appearances and also was credited with a pitching win, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out six batters.

Hunter Woodall collected three singles, had two RBIs and scored three runs, Bryant Hester had a pair of singles, an RBI and scored twice, Taylor Steele had a two-RBI single and scored twice, Adam Keenum had a two-RBI single and scored a run, Tanner Evans had a single, an RBI and scored a run, Dallas Mayer had an RBI single and scored a run and Colin Eason singled and had an RBI.

For Danville, Austin Clemons had a double and single and scored a run, Noah Hogan doubled and singled, and had two RBIs, Hunter Brown had a two-RBI single, Jackson Locklear singled and had an RBI and Jackson Broadfoot singled.

The Blue Devils collected 10 hits to five for Danville in the second game.

Howard led Falkville at the plate with a double, two singles, an RBI and scored twice, Keenum had a pair of singles, an RBI and scored a run, Bradford double, has two RBIs and scored a run, Steele singled in a run and scored twice, H. Woodall doubled and scored twice and Evans and Mayer each singled.

Brown paced Danville with a double and single. Hogan and Tidwell each singled and knocked in a run and Broadfoot had an RBI single.

Evans was the winning pitcher. He allowed three runs on one hit while striking out one and walking two in two and one-third innings. Howard relieved and pitched four and two-third innings. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out five batters and walking two.

The losing pitcher was Austin Clemons. He allowed seven runs on six hits while striking out one batter and walking two in one inning of work. C. Owens pitched five innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two.

Falkville 2, Vinemont 1

Falkville’s Blue Devils out-hit Vinemont 5-3 and went on to take a 2-1 win in a home game on March 18.

Taylor Steele led Falkville at the plate with two singles, two RBIs and scored a run. Bryant Hester added a single and scored a run and Alston Howard and Colin Easton each had a single.

Dallas Mayer was the inning pitcher. He pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits while allowing one walk. Ryan Bradford got the save, allowing no hits or runs and striking out two batters in one and one-third innings.
