Alice Campbell

March 24, 2014

Funeral for Alice Campbell, 73, of Lacey’s Spring, was Wed., March 26, at 1 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Harold Fanning officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Valhermoso Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell died Mon., March 24, 2014, at her residence. She was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Morgan County to William Sharp and Geneva Bolden Sharp. She was a loving mother and wife of 56 years. Everyone called her “Granny.” She loved kids and would care for any child she came in contact with. Her kids teased her saying, she was “The Pied Piper of Children.” She never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back or food from her table. If there was a family with financial problems, she and her husband would make sure the kids had Christmas. She did this all the time, but she also didn’t take disrespect. “Granny” was known for her switches. She would make you go get the switch from the tree that was going to be used, (but it was all done with love).

She was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Odell Campbell and Thomas “Bo” Campbell.

She is survived by her husband, Odis Campbell of Lacey’s Spring; three sons, Richard Campbell and Roger Campbell, both of Lacey’s Spring and Raymond Campbell of Guntersville; two daughters, Donna Krueger of New Market and Peggy Douell of Toney; a sister, Sue Elledge of Lacey’s Spring; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons.
