Funeral for Pastor Robert “Bobby” Smith, 62, of Eva will be Wed., March 26 at 11 a.m. at Journey Church in Eva with the Revs. Joey Coots and Gary Driver officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Eva Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Sun., March 23, 2014 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Morgan County to Hulit Leslie Smith and Bonnie Faye Knighten Self. He pastored for 33 years serving Pines Baptist Church, Resurrection Baptist Church and Ridgecrest Community Church, where he was the current pastor. He and his wife, Patricia, worked as missionaries in Mexico and Central America for six years. He was owner and operator of Bobby’s Fisherman’s Catch in Eva for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Hulit “Buddy” Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Smith of Eva; two sons, Brandon Smith (Sonjah), of Cullman and Yancey Smith (Kristie) of Eva; a daughter, April Hall, (John) of Eva; his mother, Bonnie Faye Self, (Frank) of West Point; a brother, Huey Smith (Tammy) of Lacey’s Spring; two sisters, Deborah Gray (Donald) of New Hope and Arlita Pennington (Eugene) of New Hope; nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Chrissi, Chloe, Malachi, Payton, Zeb, Olivia, Riley and Connor; and a host of nieces and nephews, step-brothers and step-sisters and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do a good deed or give a benevolent gift to someone-in Bobby’s honor.
