Morgan County Tournament summaries

Hartselle 4, Austin 3

Hannah Jenkins drove in Jada Hayes with a single in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift Hartselle to the win.

After Austin took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Hartselle responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Hayes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Sydnee Wiley.

Jenkins then reached on an error to score Hope Cain and Taylor Wascavage.

Austin tied the game thanks to a wild pitch and error that allowed the Austin player to take third and home.

Hope Cain got the win, striking out three. She allowed three runs on six hits with no walks.

Other players with hits included Cain, Wascavage and Sarah Ellen Battles.

Hartselle 7, Falkville 1

Jada Hayes and Emily Lipinski went 2-for-3 lead the Lady Tigers past Falkville.

Hayes had two RBIs and a run scored while Lipinski drove in one run.

Hayes earned the win with four strikeouts, three hits, one run and two walks.

Hope Cain added a triple while Taylor Wascavage, Hannah Jenkins and Sydnee Wiley had hits.

Callie Garner took the loss for Falkville, allowing seven runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts. Kaitlynn McMurray didn’t allow a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Paige Garner reached on a hit and scored the only run on Moore’s double.

Emoni Smith and Alexis Casteel had the only other hits for the Blue Devils.

Hartselle 7, Decatur 1

Jada Hayes was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and one run to pace Hartselle.

Her hits were a solo home run and a RBI double. She also struck out 12 and allowed one run on one hit and one walk.

Ali Forth also went yard with a three-run homer on her only at bat. Hope Cain scored twice on one hit while Hannah Jenkins drove in one run on one hit and Sarah Ellen Battles scored a hit.

Danville 5, Priceville 2

The Lady Hawks took advantage of its six hits to score five runs while Morgan Weatherwax and Savannah Bolton kept the Priceville hitting at bay.

Weatherwax, the starter, allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Bolton allowed just two hits with four strikeouts to get the win in two scoreless innings.

Kristen Dobbins led the way with a 2-for-2 effort with one RBI and one run.

Reagan Burcham and Callie Ryan added doubles while Weatherwax and Bolton had hits. Bolton, Sloan Lindsey, Ryan and Chelsea Hill scored RBIs.

Abby St. John and Heather Owens kept the Lady Bulldogs in it with 2-for-3 efforts. Sara Beth Wilson and Maggie Yambrek also had hits.

Kylie Miller took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits and one walk with a strikeout. Madison Beddingfield also allowed two runs  on two hits and a walk.

Danville 6, Brewer 2

Weatherwax led the attack with a 3-for-4 effort and three runs scored.

Sloan Lindsey added two RBIs and a run scored on one hit. Reagan Burcham also added two RBIs on a 1-for-3 effort.

Kellee Stiles had a hit, RBI and run while Savannah Bolton had an RBI. Hannah-Grace Sherrill also scored a hit.

Bolton earned the six-inning win with five strikeouts, one earned run, five hits and two walks.

Watkins led Brewer with two hits while Wilson, Ledbetter and Mitchell added hits.

Wilson struck out just two while allowing five earned runs on eight hits.

Falkville 8, Decatur 0

Paige Garner led the Blue Devils in the win over the Red Raiders with a 2-for-4 effort and three RBIs.

Makenzie Smith, Callie Garner and Cheyenne Wilson also had two hits each. Garner scored twice while Smith had an RBI and a run.

Lyndsey Moore, Sky Engle and Emily Gray also had hits. Gray had a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Alexis Casteel struck out seven during a one-hit shutout. She also had two walks.

Brewer 5, Priceville 3

The Lady Patriots had just two hits, but they took advantage of seven Priceville errors to erase a 3-0 deficit and earn a win Thursday.

Ledbetter and Wilson had the only hits for Brewer.

Mitchell got the win, allowing one earned run on six Priceville hits. Brewer also committed four errors.

Abby St. John allowed five runs on two hits and four walks. Only one of the runs was earned.

McKenzie Parker, Jenna Blankenship and Alexandria Shields hit doubles. Sara Beth Wilson, Heather Owens and Maggie Yambrek also had hits.
