Reverend Mack Carter

Funeral for Reverend Mack Carter, 88, of Vinemont will be Sun., April 13, at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Blackwood and the Rev. Troy Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat., April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. Carter died Thurs., April 10, 2014, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 9, 1925, in Lawrence County to Thomas Pendleton Carter and Bertie Mae Wilhite Carter. Mr. Carter was a very loved husband, father and grandfather, with a host of loving friends. He was a World War II Veteran, and the Fire Chief of Battleground Fire Department for 30 years. He also was a lifetime member of the DAV and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Warren, Cecil, Sam Carter and twin brother, Jack Carter; and two sisters, Edith Rosa Carter and Nellie Holladay.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Humphries Carter; two sons, Gary Carter, (Valerie) and Tim Carter, (Becky); a daughter, Judy Carter Hulsey, (Kenneth); a sister, Ona Holladay; seven grandchildren, Gregg Carter, June Bennett, Melanie Carter, Derek Hulsey, Misty Templet, Emily Latham and Dustin Carter; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
