Falkville advances, sweeps Donoho
The No. 2 Falkville Blue Devils scored early and often to sweep Donoho 15-5, 14-1 to advance to the second round of the Class 1A playoffs Friday night.
The Blue Devils racked up nine hits and 10 walks at the plate in Game 1, while overcoming three errors and eight Donoho hits.
Ryan Bradford earned the win on the mound, allowing five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and only one walk.
Taylor Steele paced the Blue Devils with a 2-for-2 performance and four RBIs. Tanner Evans was also 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.
Bradford, Adam Keenum, Colin Eason, Dallas Mayer and Tyler Woodall added.
Keenum, Hunter Woodall and Mayer drove in two runs apiece.
Evans struck out five batters and allowed one run on two hits and two walks to lift the Blue Devils in 14-1, Game 2 win.
Tyler Woodall led Falkville with a 3-for-4 effort with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Steele drove in four runs thanks to a pair of doubles. Alston Howard added a single, double, run and RBI.
Hunter Woodall, Evans, Keenum and Bryant Hester added the other hits for the Blue Devils. Keenum scored three times followed by Hunter Woodall and Mayer with two runs each and Steele, Hester, Nic Martin and Robert Ballew with runs.
Falkville will either host Decatur Heritage or travel to Ragland next week in the second round of the playoffs.
