Falkville boys set two state records Friday
Falkville’s boys track team has already set two new state records at the Class 1A state meet in Selma Friday.
Bram Miller set a new Class 1A state record clearing the bar at 6-08. He got some stiff competition from Kynard Craig of Lincoln and Anfernee Simmons of Keith, who both cleared 6-06.
The record (6-06.25) had been held by St. Jude’s Kerry Harrell since 1999.
In one of the best races of the day, Falkville’s 4×800 relay team took first place in the 4×800 relay with a state-record time of 8:31.99 to edge out Westminster-Oak Mountain, which also beat the state record mark with an 8:32.70 time. St. Jude had held the 1A state record since running 8:40.70 in 1998.
