Hartselle track finishes 5th, 7th at state

Hartselle High School’s track and field team captured first place in the boys 4×100 relay and had four other members win medals for second and third places at the Class 5A StateTrack Meet in Gulf Shores on Friday and Saturday.

The boys team collected 37.5 points and finished fifth overall. The girls team claimed eighth place with 32 points.

Boys medal winner was Jaylan Jackson, third in the 100-meter dash, and Mason McGee, third in the 110m hurdles.

Kelsey Rae Walling won a medal for finishing third in the pole vault and Megan Zuck medaled as the third place finisher in the triple jump.

Other winners of points were: (girls) Abigail Davis, fourth in the 3200-meter run and sixth in the 1600-meter run; Alley Orr, fifth in the javelin throw; Callie Partlow, sixth in the javelin; Billie Shelton, ninth in the 300-meter hurdles and 10th in the 100-meter hurdles; and Sloan Sittason, eighth in the pole vault; (boy’s) Jackson, fourth in the high jump; Aaron Davis, sixth in the 3200-meter run; Mason McGee, eighth in the 300-meter hurdles; Johnathan Duncan, eighth in the 1600-meter run; and Kris Doss, ninth in the javelin.

The boys’ team also finished fourth in the 4×800-meter relay.
