Key hired as basketball coach
Faron Key has been hired to be the new basketball coach at Hartselle High School.
During a special called meeting, the Hartselle Board of Education approved hiring Key as a social studies teacher and new basketball coach.
School Superintendent Dr. Vic Wilson said Key comes to Hartselle with an impressive track record, leading the Arab Knights to county and area championships. Key has also led Arab to appearances in regionals.
“He is the second winningest coach in Arab history in just eight seasons,” Wilson said. “We’re pleased to welcome him to Hartselle.”
Key is a graduate of West Point High School and played college basketball at Wallace State Community College.
The Hartselle Board of Education also accepted resignations Gary Orr as assistant football coach and Kevin Shivers as girls soccer coach.
