Hartselle second after Day 1

The Hartselle High School boys golf team is in second place following the first day of the Class 5A AHSAA State Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Capitol Hill Golf Course in Prattville.

Hartselle shot a 313, which is 14 shots away from leader Spanish Fort.

Garrett Reist leads the way for Hartselle, after finishing the first day with a 74 (+2). He is alone in 10th place overall individually, trailing leaders Cole Skaggs of Fort Payne and Jesse Childers of Lawrence County by four shots.

Jake Tiffin is tied for 16th place after shooting a 79 while Blake Hampton and Jordan Hartsell are tied for 20th place, each shooting 80. Robbie Fields also had a 84 for the first day.

Hampton is the first to tee off for Hartselle, with a tee time at 11:57 a.m. Reist will begin the final round at 12:06 followed by Tiffin at 12:15 p.m., Hartsell at 12:24 p.m. and Fields at 12:33 p.m.
