Aquatic center plans May 24 opening

Hartselle Aquatic Center is up and running and ready for a new season, according to Lacy Garnett, manager.

“Season pass sales are going well and we’re looking forward to a big Memorial Day weekend,” Garnett said. “The water’s still cold but that will change quickly with a few more days of sun and warm temperatures.”

The center is scheduled to open Sat., May 24, at 10 a.m.

Lacy said sales of season pool passes is continuing at the aquatic center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We were really busy the first day they were available,” she pointed out, “and sales usually pick up as the pool opening date nears.”

The rates for season passes are $100 for the first person and $50 for each additional person in the same household. Daily passes are $10 per day for 13-up, $8 for 6-12 and $5 for 5-under. Season passes may be purchased at the aquatic center form 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registration for Red Cross swimming lessons is also underway.

Four two-week sessions are planned for ages six months to adults:  June 2-13, June 16-27, July 7-18 and July 21-Aug. 1.

The fee is $45 for ages five and under and $50 for ages 6 and up.

Registrations may be made at the Sparkman Civic Center Office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Slots are available on a first-come, first serve basis.
