Funeral for Eloise T. Maddox, 85, of Hartselle was Sat., May 17, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Thompson and Bro. Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Maddox died Tues., May 13, 2014, at her residence. She was born March 30, 1929, in Morgan County to John Franklin Tanner and Florence Elmer McKee. She graduated from Eva High School and from Florence State Teacher’s College with a B. S. degree in education. She taught home economics and elementary special reading in the Morgan County and Hartselle City School Systems for 33 years. She also worked in the Lawrence County Extension Service for two years and was a Sunday school teacher and member of Neel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Maddox; her parents; a brother, Cecil L. Tanner; and four sisters, Carmo, Tanner, Cleo Blackwood, Lois Childers and Elna Tanner.
She is survived by two daughters, Annette Sledd (Jim) of Huntsville and Jan Patterson (Larry) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Hannah Sledd, Jonathan Sledd and Jim Loos; two sisters-in-law, Wilda Tanner of Eva and Sue M. Humphrey of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or Neel United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Jennifer Warren, Rosemary Orr, Carrie Orr, Jackie Orr, Evita Williams, Terry and Gerry Cole, Maxine and Louie Sanford, and thanks to Dr. John K. Irle and Hospice of the Valley.
