Graduation day

Class of 2014 says goodbye to Hartselle High

The 204 members of the Hartselle Class of 2014 received diplomas at J.P. Cain Stadium Monday night.

The hour-long ceremony featured the awarding of diplomas, along recognizing Mr. and Miss HHS, the valedictorian and salutatorian.

Class members Sarah Ellen Battles and Robbie Fields delivered remarks to the Class of 2014.

Battles left the class with a quote from Jeremiah 29:11 and ended her speech by saying, “Let’s get this party started.”

Fields talked about how his class has seen all kinds of changes in social media, from Myspace to Facebook and Twitter. He then interrupted his speech to take a “selfie” with the fellow graduates seated behind him.

Waid Miller and Battles were named Mr. and Miss HHS. While Christina Holmes and Jacob Briscoe were named valedictorian and salutatorian.

More than 30 members of the class were named honor graduates.
