Moore to play basketball for Huntington
Alex Moore, a senior at Priceville High School, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Huntington College in Montgomery
The three-year varsity forward signed on Friday in the school library in the presence of her coaches, teammates and family members. A reception followed.
Moore said she fell in love with Huntington on the first of two visits she made to the campus.
“This is a dream come true for me,” the 5’ 11” post player said. “I always wanted to be able to play at the college level some day, and I believe Huntington is the place I need to be.
“It’s an old college with lots of beautiful buildings and has a reputation of being a good liberal arts college. Everyone I met on my visits made me feel at home,”
Moore is a three- year varsity player who made All-Area and All Area Tournament teams as a senior.
Moore said she plans to major in elementary education and minor in religion.
“Alex has been very competitive and a good leader throughout her high school career,” said Priceville head coach Terrie Nelson. She always worked hard to made the players around her better on both offense and defense.
“I’m, exited for her and expect her to do well at the next level,” she added. “She is the third of our four seniors to sign a college scholarship. I think that’s outstanding and a testament to what can be accomplished through dedication and hard work.”
“Alex is a good in between player, playing guard and post,” said Huntington head coach Ashton Slater. “I saw her play while recruiting a player on another team and was impressed with her. She is a good rebounder and an excellent role player, and the kind of player we’re looking for to help build our basketball program.”
