Drainage issues slows CVS move
Drainage issues have slowed CVS’s plans to move its store from Morgan Plaza to the Tankersley Service Center property, according to city officials.
Hartselle City Planner Jeremy Griffith said the Hartselle Planning Commission has already approved site plans from the drug store chain to place a 13,225-square-foot store on the property, which sits on the northeast corner of the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 31.
However, he said they are still waiting on approval from the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Federal Emergency Management Agency on plans to improve drainage issues on the property. Currently, a drainage culvert runs underneath the property and under Main Street.
“They want to keep the current culvert and possibly add a drainage ditch as well,” Griffith said. “ALDOT has apparently had some issues with the proposed ditch, which has held up the property.
“Typically on a project like this, you don’t want to have a negative impact upstream or downstream.”
