FHS announces scholarship recipients

Falkville High School has announced the scholarship awards for the following members of the Class of 2014:

• English I Award: Taylor Robinson was the winner and the runner-up was Audriana Wilbanks.

• English II Award: Bailey Anders and Jasmine Cawthonwere the winners and the runners-up were Bryan Holmes and Ryan Sullivan.

• English III Award: Jonathan Cawthon was the winner and the runner-up was Caitlyn Waddell.

• English IV Award: Lyndsey Moore was the winner and the runner-up was Asa Parkman and Cheyenne Scott.

• World History Winner: Wyatt Bell was the winner and the runners-up were Emily Goodman, Emily Hill and Audriana Wilbanks..

• Government Award Winner: Zack Garrison was the winner and the runner-up was Aaron Estes.

• Algebra IA Award: Calico Hollingsworth was the winner and the runner-up was Katelyn Widner.

• Algebra I Award: Jasmine Cawthon was the winner and the runner-up was Jay Patel.

• Algebraic Connections Award: Tyler Boyerwas the winner and the runner-up was Asa Parkman.

• Geometry Award: Andy Davis was the winner and the runner-up was Josh Battenberg.

• Advanced Geometry Award: Bryan Holmes was the winner and the runner-up was Emily Mickelson.

• Algebra II w/ Trigonometry Award: Luke Randolph was the winner and the runner-up was Caleb Anders.

• Analytical Mathematics Award: Callie Garner and Zack Garrison were the winners and the runners-up were Mikayla James and Nate Drinkard.

• Biology Award: Wyatt Bell was the winner and the runner-up was Audriana Wilbanks.

• Environment Science Award: Hannah Farmer.

• Anatomy Award: Nate Drinkard was the winner and the runner-up was Callie Garner.

• Physical Science Award: Bryan Holmeswas the winner and the runner-up was Emily Mickelson.

• Physics Award: Aaron Estes and Zack Garrison was the winner and the runner-up was Cade Wilemon.

• Chemistry Award: Luke Randolph was the winner and the runner-up was Brittany Tanner.

• Art Award: William Littrell was the winner and the runner-up was Kate Herchenhahn.

• Spanish I Award: Mikayla James and Nate Drinkard

Spanish II Award: Cheyenne Scott.

• Marketing Award: Luke Randolph were the winners and the runners-up were Brittany Tanner and Shaynah Story.

• Yearbook Award: Brentley Roberts.

• Career Preparedness Award: Emily Hill was the winner and the runner-up was Audriana Wilbanks.

• Star Greenhand Award: Julie Asherbranner.

• Outstanding Senior Ag Award: Zack Garrison.

• Star Farmer Award: Zac Watts.

• Physical Education Award: Amy Richardson and Alex Edwards.

Sympathy is extended to Kathleen Anders upon the death of her husband, Esmer Lee “Banks” Anders and to his three daughters, Tamie Parker, Olivia Miller and Paula Guthrie. Mr. Banks’ service was Sun., May 18, at Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery.

A picnic and cookout was held recently at First Baptist Church Falkville. Hot dogs and hamburgers were grilled and served along with salads, desserts and main dishes. The event was attended by about 100 members and guests, following the 10:30 a.m. worship service. . They played volleyball, horseshoes and other games.

Scarlett Graham was honored by her family with a graduation party at her home on Sunday evening. Refreshments were served to Baxter, Glenda, Cris, Lisa, Camellia and Preston Bryant, Eileen Burke, Dan, Teresa, Kannon and Gavin Dougherty, Howard Johnson, Dana and Max Schrimsher, Stanley, Dena, and Betty Graham, Laura Sullivan, Ralph and Mary Alice Nelson, June, Nelson and Caleb Fields, Rixie Smith and the honoree. Scarlett received many gifts that will be useful when she enters Calhoun Community College in the fall. She is a member of Falkville High School’s 2014 graduating class.

Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church honored graduates in a Sunday morning service recently. Each graduate received a Bible from the church. Those graduating from high school were Mary Kate Eddy, Scarlett Graham, Loren White and Kelsey Young. Jimmy Galbreath received his doctorate degree in nursing. Congratulations to all.
