City asks BOE for more land on retention pond
The City of Hartselle is asking the Hartselle Board of Education for another 1.3 acres of property behind the central office for a retention pond for downtown flood prevention.
Mayor Don Hall and Department of Development Director Jeff Johnson showed board members the proposed pond during a BOE work session Thursday.
Johnson said the new retention pond design with alleviate 20 percent of the downtown flooding, as opposed to 10 percent with the original design.
School Superintendent Dr. Vic Wilson said he will give board attorney Woody Sanderson a copy of the plans to review before the board takes action on it.
