Funeral for Ruth Lovella Baltzer, 93, of Falkville was Tues., June 17, at 11 a.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Peebles and Anthony Patterson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Cullman Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Baltzer died Sat., June 14, 2014. She was born July 7, 1920, to John Ashley Wilson and Lola Estelle Watson Wilson in Murray City, Ohio, as the 12th of 13 children. Her father was a preacher of the Pilgrim Holiness Faith. Her mother was a homemaker. She married her husband, Kenneth, on Oct. 26, 1950. Due to his military service in the Air Force, they traveled extensively including stops in the Panama Canal Zone and Newfoundland.
She started her career in the medical fields as a Gray Lady in Newfoundland, concluding as an OB technician in St. Louis, Mo.
She was a lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of California, a member of the Embroiders’ Guild of the Cotton Valley Chapter in Decatur, belonged to Eastern Star and was a member of Gum Springs Baptist. She was well known for her artistic talents, including painting, ceramics, sewing, quilting and beading. She traveled to Egypt in 2001 for three weeks and was crowned Queen of Eva Frontier Days in 2011.
Her husband, Kenneth, and her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie S. Piper (Donnie) of Falkville and Barbara Snider (Chris) of Texas; a son, Gary Dean Wadsworth (Jacque) of Arizona; five grandchildren, Chris Jorel (Jennifer), Jason McCool (Nicolette), Sean McCool (Namita), Greg and Sandy Wadsworth; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
