Joe Stephenson

Funeral for Joe Stephenson, 79, of Falkville will be Fri., June 20, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Fri., June 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Stephenson died Wed., June 18, 2014 at his residence. He was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Florida to Loren Carl Stephenson and Hester Gurganus Stephenson. He formerly worked as a Union Contractor in the Carpentry Field. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother,Eugene Stephenson; and a daughter-in-law, Gwen Stephenson.

He is survived by his wife, Velia Mae Prater Stephenson of Falkville; three sons, Kenneth Stephenson of Falkville, George Stephenson (Cindy) of Jones Chapel, and Dennis Stephenson (Lynne) of Hartselle; three daughters, Virginia “Sue” Kimbril (Jerry) of Vinemont, Gloria Hogan (Danny) of Hartselle and Wendy Sinyard (Bryan) of Crane Hill; a brother, Prentice Larry Stephenson (Pat) of Crane Hill; a sister, Blanche Chaney (Hal) of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
