Ralph Cash

Funeral for Ralph Cash, 71, of Birmingham was Thur., June 26, at 11 a.m. at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Birmingham with Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood directing.

Mr. Cash died Mon., June 23, 2014, in Birmingham. He was a native of Hartselle and attended Mississippi State University, majoring in accounting and also obtained his MBA degree there. He was an ardent supporter of his Mississippi State Bulldogs and a member of the Bulldog Club and Riverchase Country Club. He was a CPA and was employed as a public accountant for many years before becoming controller with several companies. He became active in consulting on commercial coatings in his later years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including golf, hunting and sporting clays. Ralph’s personality endeared him to all as he was always in a comical mood. The family wishes to thank the entire UAB Heart and Vascular Services Team for their expertise, kindness, compassion and support.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Augusta Ware Cash; two brothers, Stan Cash (Jan) and John Cash (Regina); a sister, Marian Gilchrist; four nephews, Wes Gilchrist (Inge,) Will Cash (Amanda) Curtis Ware and Mark Ware (Caron), two nieces, Hilary Thompson (Chris) and Susan Colquitt (Ricky); and six great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Mississippi State Mickey Putman Scholarship Fund, c/o Delta Chi Educational Foundation, P.O Box 2113, Iowa City, IA 52244-2113 or a favorite charity.
