Fireworks shooting a no-no in Hartselle

Even though fireworks are readily available at stands on the east and north fringes of Hartselle, the discharge of them inside the corporate limits is a violation of city ordinance.

“The question about shooting fireworks in the city always comes up around the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve,” said Hartselle Police Chief Ron Puckett. “Most of our citizens are aware of this and are good about obeying the law.

“We’re not to going to send our officers out to conduct searches for fireworks; however, in cases were the law is violated and we receive complaints, we’ll respond and take whatever action is appropriate.”

“My advice to those city residents with fireworks is to take them to a safe place out of town and have fun shooting them,” said Hartselle Mayor Don Hall.
