Jan Strother, DVM of Hartselle, was installed as an AVMA delegate at the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association annual conference at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort June 18-24 in conjunction with the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

Charles Ashwander, DVM of Decatur, was installed as a member at large of the association’s board of directors.

The conference was attended by veterinarians from 28 states. ALVMA officers were installed at an awards luncheon on June 19.

The ALVMA seeks to raise public awareness about general pet healthcare and focuses on the ways preventive care can be cost-effective and increase the length and quality of the life of pets. It also promotes topics like disaster preparedness, dog bite prevention and poison prevention throughout the year.
