Mr. Hardy died at his residence in Youngsville, La., July 2, 2014. He had a long and hard fought battle with cancer but he enjoyed ever minute of his life, loved his family with all his heart, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ when his battle was finished. He grew up in a household with many aunts, uncles and cousins who were all as close as siblings.
He graduated from Falkville High School and St. Bernard College of Cullman, where he played basketball. He attended and played basketball at the University of North Alabama. He was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces Reserves and his unit was mobilized during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He worked for Bellsouth and was retired after many years of employment. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle and most recently a member of Covenant United Methodist Church of Youngsville, La. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved playing golf with his church group. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He doted on and adored his family, especially his grandchildren. Andf was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend and he left his mark, gentleness and kindness, on everyone he knew. He was a true Southern and Christian gentleman who exemplified all that is good and he will be missed here on earth by everyone who knew and loved him. We are elated and joyous, however, that he is with his Lord and all who have gone before him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Clyde Hardy and Ruth Elizabeth Jones Hardy; his brother-in-law, Patrick Lipsey; his aunts, Ruby Jones and Ella Moon; and his uncle, Harry Jones.
