Athens man charged with failure to register

An Athens man is facing charges in Morgan County after he failed to register his employment with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.

Dale Alan McClendon, 39, of 15278 Highway 251 in Athens was arrested July 9 by SVU Investigator Charles Radke and was charged with failure to register employment. McClendon is in the Morgan County Jail on $2,500 bond.

Deputies served out-of-county warrant on McClendon at his place of employment when it was discovered that he failed to register his employment with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is a registered, convicted sex offender and was required to register his place of employment in accordance with statutes of the Sexual Offenders Registration Notification Act.
