Eva Art Guild has announced plans for the 25th Annual Eva Frontier Days, which will begin Sept. 20 and end Sept. 27.

A beauty pageant will open the fun-filled, family celebration at Journey Church Sept. 20 beginning at 10 a.m. Winners in various age groups will receive ribbons, trophies and crowns and be featured at activities throughout the week. Admission will be $3.

A bluegrass festival will be staged at 6 p.m. the same day in the Eva School gym. It will feature Eva’s own Stan Nelson and the Hurricane Creek Band. Pickin’ and Grinnin’ will precede the main show beginning at 3 p.m. Admission will be $6.

A hayride is scheduled Sept. 23. It will be held at the Saddle Club Arena on Frost Road beginning at 6:30 p.m. A hot dog and drink will be included in the $1 admission charge.

Eva United Methodist Church will host a community gospel singing Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge.

More entertainment is planned Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. Music on the Square will feature Dixie Flavor in downtown Eva. There is no admission charge.

Frontier Days will come to a climax Sept. 27 with an all-day festival featuring one of North Alabama’s biggest antique tractor shows, a fun-filled street parade, live musical entertainment and many other activities.

The town will begin taking on the appearance of a country fair at daybreak as food, merchandise and vendors arrive to set up their equipment and merchandise. Antique tractors and cars will follow with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The street parade will form at the ball fields and roll through town at 11 a.m. A crafts show will accept entries in baked goods, jams, jellies and preserves until 10:30 a.m. at town hall. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Afternoon events include a best-dressed contest at 1 p.m., pig-calling contest at 1:30 p.m., live entertainment at 2 p.m., prize drawings at 3:30 p.m., frog jumping contest at 4 p.m. and greased pig contest at 5 p.m.
