Priceville votes computer upgrade

Priceville Town Council voted $14,415 to upgrade technology at town hall at a regular meeting July 14.

City Tech was awarded a contract to furnish nine personal computers and a hard drive. Three of the computers will be installed at the Linda Duran Public Library.

Town clerk Connie Childers said the move was prompted by the fact that parts are no longer available for the town’s existing XP system.

Mayor Melvin Duran passed on some good news when he reported that the town’s final payment totaling $162,000 on money to build the first phase of the town’s sanitary sewer system will be made Aug. 7.

“This will put us in position to start looking at other possibilities as far as being able to meet other needs is concerned,” he pointed out.

The town also acknowledged receipt of a resolution of appreciation from the town of Elkton, Tenn. for nine sets of fire fighter turnout gear it received as a donation from Priceville Fire Department.

In another matter, town engineer Sonny Wright gave a status report on the proposed replacement of a bridge on Cave Springs Road near Priceville Elementary School.

Wright said the Northeast Morgan County Water Authority was scheduled to begin the relocation of an eight-inch water main on the site Thur., July 17, and estimated that the work would require four or five days. The bridge replacement will follow, during which time traffic will be detoured.

The council acted on other matters as follows:

•Approved $7,415 to pressure clean underpass concrete areas in the I-65 and Hwy. 67-beautification project
