‘Really fun experience’

Jada Hayes and Taylor Wascavage represented the Hartselle Lady Tigers softball team in the North vs. South all-star game at Montgomery’s Lagoon Park July 22.

This game was apart of AHSAA All-Star Sports Week. The squads played a doubleheader, with the teams tying 3-3 in Game 1 and the South winning Game 2 4-1.

In Game 1, Wascavage, catcher, knocked in a run while the shortstop while Hayes scored a run and pitched a perfect inning.

In Game 2, Wascavage had one hit in two at bats. Hayes pitched two innings, giving up two runs on two hits while striking out one.

Wascavage described the game as something she will never forget.

“It was a really fun experience. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to get to play in this game,” Wascavage said.

Hayes mentioned that is was exciting to meet so many new people.

“I really enjoyed getting to go play with a group of very talented girls. It was really fun and it made me very excited for next season,” added Hayes.

Both are currently verbally committed to play softball at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
