Hartselle man caught with meth ingredients during traffic stop
A man is in jail after he told police officers that he was planning to cook methamphetamine once he got home when confronted about having meth ingredients items in his car.
Terry J. Maxwell, 27, was stopped by the Hartselle Police and Morgan County Drug Task Force Friday. He was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance. He was being held on a $5,000 bond.
Sheriff Ana Franklin said agents made contact with the occupant of the vehicle and discovered that Maxwell had no driver’s license.
After obtaining verbal consent to search his vehicle, agents discovered a box of Sudafed and a bottle of Coleman Fuel. Agents questioned the suspect about the items. According to a press release, Maxwell said that he was going to cook methamphetamine as soon as he got home.
Maxwell is currently on probation for meth charges and could be facing probation revocation.
