First Baptist youth spend day in Cullman

A group of youth from First Baptist Church Falkville spent a fun-filled Sunday afternoon at Fun Zone in Cullman. On their way there, they ate at a fast food restaurant. Nineteen youth and youth director, Patrick and Jillian Smith went with them.

The Summer reading program, Fizz! Boom! Read!” concluded Thur., July 31, at Falkville Public Library. A pizza party was given to 20 children on the last day.

Members of Falkville High School’s graduating class of 1957 met at Oh! Bryan’s Restaurant July 29 for its 57-year reunion.

Those attending were Marie Anders Odom, Sophia Carrol Steele, Bobby Childers, Geraldine Cloer Holmes and husband Wendell, Katie Sue Hardin, Gayle Hargrove Foote and grandson, Bronson Bunch, Edward Higdon and wife Merle, Allen Holmes and wife Jan, John Knight and wife Charlotte, Jane Minter Padgett and husband Bill, Joe Murphy, Bobby Glen Staples, Arthur Ray Summerford and wife Barbara, Marlon Tapscott, Cecil Williams and wife Pat, Ola Mae Wright Coleman, Shelba Asherbrnner Wittenberg and husband Terry and Lois Nell Williams Pickens and husband Billy Joe. The class plans to meet again in September for lunch.

Charles and Linda Williams, Bobby and Linda Ball, Martha Asherbranner and Jackie Turney spent Wednesday touring Amish country in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. The group also did some shopping.

Sandy and Caleb Fields, Rixie Smith, Greg, Leslie and Preston Adams have returned from Montgomery. While they were there, Caleb and Preston entered their show calves. The Alabama Cattlemens’ Association sponsored the show. They won several ribbons in their class.

A special service for Briley Gilbreath, daughter of Tony and Cassandra Gilbreath, was held at Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church. She was baptized into the church. Her grandparents are Jimmy and Pam Gilbreath.

Members of Gandy’s Cove United Methodist Church extend get-well wishes to Barbara Ward, Dr. Larry Fite and Nelson Graham.

Scarlett Graham and Kelsey Young have returned from a vacation. They visited Jessica Smith and Justin Studdard in Rome, Ga.

Members of First Baptist Church Falkville extend birthday wishes to Thad Brath on Aug. 6, Breanna Mitchell on Aug. 14, Beth Rowe Powell on Aug. 16 and Grace Rowe on Aug. 19.
