Morgan County Fall Cleanup Sept. 22-27

Morgan County Commission and Morgan County Adopt-A-Mile are again hosting annual Fall Cleanup, Monday through Saturday, Sept. 22-27.

For the convenience of residents, district shops will accept old discarded furniture and appliances and other unwanted household items during that week, or they may be disposed of at the Morgan County Landfill free of charge, with proof of residency.

Landfill hours are 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

District shops #2 in Hartselle, #3 in Falkville and #4 in Cotaco will accept unwanted items Monday through Thursday during normal operating hours and on Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. Shop personnel will be available on Saturday to help unload large items.

District #1 in Decatur will accept discarded items on Saturday only from 7 to 11 a.m.

Items not acceptable are roof shingles, household garbage, lumber or hazardous chemicals.

During the same week, Adopt-A-Mile volunteers are encouraged to pick up litter in their designated areas. Other volunteers are also needed to work on street and road rights-of-ways and public places.
