The Brewer Lady Patriots opened the volleyball season at home with a three-straight win over the Decatur Red Raiders.

The Lady Patriots outscored Decatur in three straight sets 25-15, 25-14 and 25-15 respectively.

Varsity Coach Ron Smith said he was pleased with their opening performance.

“They played well for their first game,” Smith said. “This was the first varsity experience for eight of the girls. Of course a few mistakes were made, but they didn’t get down.”

Smith pointed out a few players he thought did well.

“Morgan Stinson did well at the net, and our setter Presley Craft had plenty of assists as well as her aces,” Smith said.

Senior Lexus Brindley had four kills and six digs throughout the match. Junior Morgan Stinson led the team with 10 kills, while senior Caity Jett was close behind with six kills. Sophomore Lindsay Borden racked up four kills.

Sophomore libero Hannah Collins tallied eight digs. Juniors Presley Craft and Brook Childers had five and four aces respectively.

The junior varsity team also won their match against Decatur in straight sets, winning 25-12, 25-11 and 25-12.

The Lady Patriots will continue their season with a match at Arab High School against Arab and James Clemons Thur., Sept. 4 at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
