Priceville Town Council approved the introduction of an ordinance pertaining to residential yard waste and bulky waste collection at its regular meeting Aug. 25.
Council members were asked to review the proposed ordinance, be prepared to offer suggestions for changes and be ready to consider its adoption at the next regular meeting.
Mayor pro tem Tommy Perry, presiding in the absence of Mayor Melvin Duran, said the purpose of the measure is to establish guidelines for the curbside collection of grass clippings, tree limbs and other inert matter.
“We are currently offering residents yard waste pickup at no charge and will continue to do so,” Perry said.
The council also approved $7,800 for the application of three layers of sealant and striping of the parking lot at Veterans Park. The work will be done by Richard Cooper Asphalt Paving Co.
The council acted on other matters as follows:
•Approved a resolution requesting Morgan County funding for the Linda Duran Public Library.
•Approved a “Good Luck Bulldogs” advertisement in the Hartselle Enquirer annual football preview magazine.
•Approved $1,033.84 for the purchase of active shooter response equipment for the police department.
•Approved $1,290 to Gulf States Distributors for ammunition for the police department.
•Approved $325 to $500 for the purchase of printed envelopes for the Linda Duran Public Library.
•Approved up to $5,000 for the purchase of new furniture for the Linda Duran Public Library.
•Approved payment of July bills totaling $65,589.15.
