Falkville pulls away in second half

The Falkville Blue Devils grounded the Decatur Heritage Eagle attack in the second half to earn a 48-13 win the home opener Friday night.

Devin Reed was the workhorse for the Blue Devils, rushing for 134 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries.

Ryan Sullivan spread the ball around to five different receivers, en route to finishing 19 of 26 for 276 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also had 74 yards on six carries with a touchdown.

Caleb Vinson also added 52 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

Patrick Knowles finished with 102 yards receiving while Logan Vinson finished with 61 yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Bryan Holmes added 57 yards on two catches while Garth Enochs had 46 yards on four receptions.

Head coach Joel Schrenk said one key component to the success was Colin Eason, who had to step in and handle the kickoff duties this week.

“Colin did a great job of stepping in and handling all of the kick off duties this week,” Shrenk said. “This was not expected but he was prepared and accepted the challenge.”
