Students receive awards at UM
More than 1,100 students at the University of Montevallo were recognized during the spring semester for outstanding leadership, scholarship and service. Individual departments and campus organizations held receptions and other events honoring these exceptional students, most of whom received more than one award.
Among those recognized were Tiffany Ashworth and Emily Long, both of Hartselle, and Anna Shelton of Danville, all of whom received highest honors. Highest honors are awarded to full-time undergraduate students who have completed at least 12 semester hours at the University of Montevallo and whose cumulative UM grade-point average is a 3.80 or better.
Long received the presidential honors scholarship, awarded to entering first-year students scoring 30 and above on the ACT or equivalent SAT score. The scholarship is renewable with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
