Long elected first vice chair of ACCA
Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long has been elected first vice president of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, the statewide association that represents Alabama’s county governments.
Long has previously served as ACCA’s second vice president, and under the traditional officer rotation, he is expected to become president in 2015. The former mayor of Somerville was elected to the county commission in 2010, and he has already completed the Level 1 education program for county commissioners, offered by the Alabama Local Government Training Institute.
ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield said he is confident in Long’s ability to serve the Association’s membership well.
“We are excited about the leadership, energy and dedication Chairman Long will provide for our Association and our members,” Brasfield said. “I believe Ray thoroughly understands the challenges of both urban and rural county governments in Alabama, and he has vision to help move county government forward statewide.”
