Martha Stewart Anson of St. Joe, Ark., formerly of Hartselle, has been on a 10-day visit with friends and relatives in the Hartselle, Danville, Cedar Cove, Massey and Salem areas. Martha also attended her Morgan County High School Class of 1958 lunch at the Freight House on Wed. Aug. 27. Many will remember buying a Chevrolet from Martha’s father, Edward Stewart or his staff at Stewart Brothers on the corner of Chestnut and North Sparkman streets in Hartselle. The building is now El Marie’s Art and Antiques. Martha has been active in genealogical research for her Stewart family history of South Morgan County and Hartselle. She also crusades for children with reading difficulties. While here in the area, she received a hundred or more books to take to the kindergarten and first graders she helps with at the St. Joe School. Martha credits the late Anne Weinman, her 10th grade English teacher, with helping her learn to read. Before returning home on Tues., Sept. 2, she visited the gravesite of her caretaker and family friend, Mattie Ella Williams at the Camp Ground Cemetery in Massey.
