HHS Alumni plan tailgating reunion

Friday night football fans have a good reason to arrive early at J.P. Cain Stadium for a Homecoming football battle between Hartselle’s Tigers and Decatur’s Red Raiders Sept. 19.

For a pregame treat, fans can enjoy a grilled ribeye steak sandwich served with a Coke, chips and dessert while they sit under the big tent and share fond memories of past Homecomings with family and friends.

Hartselle High School Alumni Association is sponsoring the third annual Alumni Tailgating Reunion.

“We’re going out on a limb to pay what we owe on the Hartselle High sign and fund a college scholarship for a Hartselle High senior,” said Tresa McGhee, alumni association president. “This is the third year we’ve had a tailgate, but it’s the first time at Homecoming.”

The tailgate will be located on a grassy area west of Hartselle Intermediate School. Tables and chairs will be set up inside of a big tent for the comfort and convenience of diners.

“Red and Rassie Wallace will grill the steaks, and we’ll begin serving at 5 p.m.” McGhee said. “Tickets are $10 each and are available at Hartselle High School, Hartselle Enquirer, and Dr. David Sittason’s dental office. They may also be ordered online at tresamcghee@aol.com.

“We expect good support from alumni association members,” McGhee added, “but we want everyone to know that the tailgate is for everyone.”

The association plans a membership drive beginning Oct. 1. Membership is $20 per year and is open to all persons that attended Morgan County High School and Hartselle High School and their families.
