Rella Marie Brown

September 11, 2014

Funeral for Rella ‘Marie’ Brown, 79, of Valhermoso Springs, will be Sun., Sept.14, at 1:30 p.m. in Peck Funeral Home Chapel officiated by her daughter, Patricia Smith.

Burial will be in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat., Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Rella Marie Brown died Sept. 11, 2014. She was born June 2, 1935, second of seven children born to Charlie and Mary Taylor of Morgan County. On June 6, 1953 four days after turning 18, Marie married Ollie Brown of Valhermoso Springs with whom she produced 5 children and 47 vegetable gardens (one for each year of marriage). She was famous for her potato salad and chocolate gravy and firmly believed coke and candy bars were necessities of life. Her family members pray her heaven is filled with her favorite things: her loved ones who have gone before her, gospel music, flowers, quilts, Vienna sausages, scratch-off lottery tickets and yard sales. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ollie Brown; her parents; her sister, Roma; and brother, James Robert.

She is survived by her five children, Lannie Brown, Patricia Smith, Valerie Clinkenbeard, Judy Henderson and Larissa Ricketts; her four grandchildren, Bianca Henderson, April Hall, Brandon Smith and Yancey Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Ben, Brayden, Chrissi, Chloe, Mac, Zeb, Peyton, Olivia and Skylar; and four sisters, Ruth May, Ella Grubbs, Linda White and Conita Rivers.

Pallbearers will be Brayden, Ben, Bianca, April, Brandon, Yancey, Stefan and Christopher.
