The Mayor and Council approved by Resolution 2014-57 to recognize Fri., Sept. 19, as POW/MIA Recognition Day in the Town of Falkville. They respectfully are asking the citizens of the town to join with them in ‘Painting the Town Black & White’ by decorating with banners, balloons, wreaths, black & white ribbons, dressing in black and white, etc. to bring honor to those who have answered the call to serve in our Armed Forces, those who have not returned to stand by their families, those who were held captive as prisoners of war and to never forget their sacrifice.

Sept. 20

The 34th annual Depot Days Festival will be Sat., Sept. 20, and will begin with the Hartselle Kiwanis Club Second annual Hartselle Half Marathon. Depot Days will feature an adult art show, children’s art show, crafts, tractor and gasoline engine show, live entertainment, car, truck and bike show, children’s area, food and so much more. Also, The Great Hartselle Bank Robbery of 1926 re-enactment by the College Street Players will be held at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. There will be three different shows, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission for the show is $10 at the door.

Morgan County Schools will have an early release day Wed., Sept. 17. Students will be dismissed and buses will run at 1 p.m.

Eva Frontier Days 2014, celebrating 25 years, will kick off Sat., Sept. 20, with a bluegrass festival at Eva School at 6 p.m. featuring Fireball Mail from Nashville and Freshwater Creek from Arab. Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.
